Eucharistic Adoration Information and Guidlines

Chapel Hours
12 noon Sunday through 12 midnight Friday (Friday night).

Chapel Location
The chapel is located in the office basement. Park in the lower lot of the church. You will see a sign that says Chapel & Spiritual Center. Enter through the door that has the security keypad next to it. This is the door that does not lead directly into the chapel, but rather into the old conference room in the office basement. Within a few feet you will find the sign-in book and the door leading into the chapel.

Security
To enter the chapel you have to type in a code on a key pad. Enter # # # # (call Karin at 282-3754 to get code) and the door will unlock. For extra safety inside the chapel, a panic alarm button is available. Simply follow the instructions near the button and push it in an emergency. Custom Alarm company will then be notified.

Sign-In
Please be punctual and try to arrive a few minutes before your assigned hour of Adoration. Before you enter the chapel, please sign-in by initialing next to your name in the sign-in book. Substitutes sign-in as well (next to the name of the person they are subbing for in the sign-in book). Visitors may sign-in as well in a separate visitor book. Try to get to know the adorer with the timeslot following your own. Do not assume that non-scheduled adorers in the chapel at the end of your hour will be there for the entire following hour. Once your replacement arrives for the next hour of Adoration, you may leave. If you have an urgent need to leave when your hour of Adoration is over, and your replacement fails to arrive, please close the wooden doors of the Tabernacle to reverently secure the Eucharist. If you arrive for your hour of Adoration and find the wooden doors of the Tabernacle closed, simply open them and begin your hour of Adoration.

Prayer
Remember the Adoration chapel is for spending quiet time with Jesus in the Eucharist. We ask that silence be respected. Children are allowed to come and pray as well, as long as they can be respectfully quiet. Your time with Jesus can be spent in a number of ways. You may want to read, pray the rosary, you can pray through the experiences that come into your memory, or you can just listen to what Jesus has to say to you. How you choose to pray and reflect is personal preference.

Prayer Environment
As stated above, the Adoration chapel is for quiet prayer, so we ask that no music be played. We also ask that all cell phones and pagers be turned off. Food and drink are not permitted in the chapel.

Literature
Feel free to bring your own prayer materials. There are also materials available at the chapel. They have been approved by the pastor, and can be found in the bookcase near the sign-in book outside the chapel and inside the chapel on a bookcase.

Closing the Tabernacle
This is to be used only in extreme instances.

Dress Code
Remember you are coming before Jesus, so we ask that you dress respectfully.

Restroom
A restroom is located outside the chapel.

Telephone
A telephone is located outside chapel. It is to be used only in emergencies.

Bulletin Board
There is a bulletin board located above the sign-in book. There you will find a copy of the schedule, substitute list, and other pertinent announcements. Near the sign-in book you will also find a book where you can write your petitions/prayer requests.

Finding a Substitute
If you are unable to fulfill your hour of Adoration, you are expected to find somebody to go in your place (please remind your substitute to sign-in as well). This is true even if there are other adorers scheduled for the same hour. It is important to find a substitute because we need to ensure that the Eucharist is not left exposed and unattended. Furthermore, it is courteous to your fellow adorer that they are not left alone, especially during the night hours and without warning.

  • Begin by asking fellow prayer team members (those adorers who share the same hour of Adoration just on different days of the week) to pick up your hour or make a switch with you.
  • Ask a friend or family member.
  • Try finding someone from the overall substitute list.
  • If you still are not able to find a substitute, check with the other adorers who share your same time and day of the week to see if they can guarantee to be at Adoration that day.
  • As a last resort, you can call your assigned 24 hour coordinator for help.
If you are unhappy with your scheduled hour of Adoration, please call the committee chair to arrange a different time of Adoration. We ask that you voice your concerns, rather than suddenly stop coming to your scheduled hour of Adoration.
