Liturgical Ministry

Liturgy means "the work of the people". When taken into Catholic worship the term applies to the activity of all who worship, all of us doing a work for the common good in our relationship with God.

Pax Christi Church has many opportunities for parishioners to be an active part of the liturgy. Take your time to explore our liturgical ministries and see where you could share your talents.

Acolytes (Altar Servers)

Acolytes assist the priest in performing minor duties within the Mass. Acolytes need to be reverent, respectful and set a good example for all to follow. Scheduling is very flexible, allowing you to serve at Mass when you know you are available. Anyone in 4th grade - adult is encouraged to participate in this ministry. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist minister the Body and Blood of Jesus to the faithful during Communion. Extraordinary Ministers need to have great reverence and respect for the Eucharist and to those to whom you minister. Individuals must also be in good standing within the Catholic Church. Extraordinary Ministers are placed on teams and are responsible to minister certain months of the calendar year. This ministry is open to anyone who has been confirmed in the Catholic faith.

Hospitality Room Greeters

In this ministry you act as a greeter to individuals who may have questions about the Pax Christi Faith Community or to those who would like to register to become a member of the parish. You must be hospitable, friendly, and able to offer a smile. This ministry is open to any teenager - adult who can fulfill the outlined responsibilities.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass and at other liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Lectors need to have a good speaking voice,have the time to properly prepare to proclaim the readings and have great reverence toward the Word of God. Scheduling is flexible, allowing you to read when you know you are available. This ministry is open to anyone who has been confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Music Ministry

There is much opportunity for involvement of sharing your musical talents at Pax Christi Church. We are fortunate to have a choir at every Mass each weekend. In addition to the adult choirs for each Mass, there is also a children's choir for ages 1-6 grade and a youth choir for ages 6-12 grade. These choirs sing on a rotating basis throughout the school year. Beside sharing a voice in the choirs, we also welcome any instrumentalists to share the joy of their instrument. Projectionists

This is a unique ministry to Pax Christi. The projectionist advances music PowerPoint slides during the Mass,operates the camera function during baptisms, and occasionally shows videos. Projectionists should have some basic knowledge of computers, need to be able to read and need to be attentive. This ministry is open to anyone pre-teen -13 years old with adult supervision or 14 years old - adult without supervision. Scheduling is flexible, allowing you to project when you are available.

Sacristans

Sacristans are responsible for setting out the needed supplies for Communion and and do preparation for other aspects of the Mass. To be part of this ministry you must be a responsible and reverent. Sacristans help at both daily Mass and weekend Masses. Scheduling can be flexible. This ministry is open to anyone who is responsible to fulfill the duties.

Ushers

Ushers perform several duties throughout the Mass. They act as greeters as people are assembling in the church. They help people find a seat, take up the money collection, hand out bulletins and assist with other duties when needed. Ushers should be friendly, attentive, and have a smile to share. Ushers are placed on teams and are responsible to minister certain months of the calendar year. This ministry is open to individuals and/or families who can fulfill the outlined duties.
