• A person who will give others time and opportunity to make their own decisions without feeling a need to decide for them.
• A person who can ask how others are doing without feeling an obligation to tell them what they should be doing.
• A person who is able to admit they too experience life as burdensome at times and find it necessary to seek comfort and support from others.
• A person who understands and values the faith community as necessary for spiritual growth.
• A person who has an ability to draw on his or her own spiritual resources.

Ours is a quiet ministry...

When one goes through a time of crisis and of transition, talking with another can help. Whether it be the loss of a loved one, a family problem, a divorce, loss of employment, major health issues, or being placed in a nursing home, there is a need to tell ones story. One can hold it inside and let the concerns damage mind, heart, and soul. It can be told to family who may feel guilt or be unable to respond because they are in crisis with you. One can talk to a friend who may offer unneeded advice or fail to keep a confidence. One can also talk to a BeFriender.

We as BeFrienders can walk with you during this time of transition. We don’t take the place for family or friends, but can listen in confidence without judging, understand without fixing, and pray with you. We bring the care and concern of your Pax Christi family.
