Encounters with Mary is a study and prayer group devoted to deepening our understanding and appreciation of Mary, the Mother of God and Our Mother. The group discovers Mary through scholarly writings, sacred images, her messages at Rue de Bac, Lourdes, Fatima, and other approved Marian apparitions, as well as through prayer and personal reflections.
Each Encounter begins with a reflection on Our Lady followed by a thoughtful praying of the rosary. Medieval and Renaissance masterpieces provide a backdrop for meditation and reflection. Historically, these works were the primary method of religious instruction for the illiterate peasants and townsfolk who viewed them within church altarpieces and windows. The subtleties and symbolism of these pieces allow us to experience the mysteries in a powerful way and with deeper understanding.
All parishioners, with a special invitation to the youth, are encouraged to attend. Regular attendance is not required - join us in meditation, study and prayer as often as you are able.
Encounters with Mary meets most 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30 pm in the church.
